Quality Patent Printing is known as one of the top U.S. and foreign patent drafting companies. We have one of the largest and finest patent drafting departments in the mid-Atlantic area and possibly the nation. Our staff is highly trained in producing drawings either by utilizing the latest CAD software or by hand with pen and ink. These skills allow us to offer you the most efficient method of producing drawings.

Our drafting department is a highly-qualified team of experts with excellent credentials in computer generated technical illustration and patent drafting.

Our drafting services are characterized by a highly-personalized approach where, if needed, we will sit down with you to discuss your invention and individual drawing needs. If you are not able to meet with us in person, we will still give the same level of attention to your drawings with the use of telephones, fax or email.

We prepare high-quality patent drawings from a great diversity of raw data such as:

  • Blueprints
  • Rough Sketches
  • Photographs
  • Models/Prototypes
  • Client’s CAD files
  • Virtually any type of computer file

We specialize in consistently producing accurate, high-quality drawings. Copies of completed drawings can be sent via fax or emailed to you to speed up the review process. For more information, see our Electronic File Transfer Section. If you do not already have Adobe Acrobat Reader, click on the link below where you can download it for free.

Archival of Drawings

We store paper copies of our drawings for 5 years and all photographs and electronic files indefinitely. This allows us to prepare re-orders and amendments without delay.

Formal Drawings Up Front

As the USPTO no longer grants extensions of time to fix problems with drawings, it seems prudent to have formal drawings prepared sooner. QPP recommends formal drawings be prepared prior to receiving a Notice of Allowance; however, filing formal drawings during the initial filing of an application is the best option.

It is stated in the Federal Register, dated September 8, 2000, that “It is in the applicant’s interest that the drawings be of the best quality.” This responsibility to file high-quality drawings that are unambiguous with clearly defined details, falls upon the applicant and his representatives. We at Quality Patent Printing can share this responsibility and make the process run smoothly.

We are committed to maintaining the highest standards in our drawings and in the services we provide. As always, we guarantee our formal drawings. Only clearly-drawn formal drawings will reproduce well and, whether printed by conventional means or scanned and printed electronically, our work will exceed the prescribed standards of the USPTO so you will have a quality product when the patent goes to print.

Original Drawings

We are able to go onsite if needed, to collect data and prepare sight drawings, or to take notes, photographs and rough sketches. From this information, we produce our preliminary drawings for your approval. Formal drawings are then prepared according to your schedule.

Design Drawings

A sound knowledge of perspective theory enables us to understand the distortion inherent in disclosures made solely from photographs. With the correct amount of photographs and views we are able to extrapolate and produce highly-accurate orthographic drawings.
In other design cases where elevation drawings may constitute the sole drawing disclosure, we will produce a perspective drawing which enables the examiner to fully visualize the design. As perspective drawings are often required in complicated design cases, our expertise in this area makes a significant difference in reducing the time it takes to get a case allowed.

Utility Drawings

Mechanical drawings are the mainstay of our drafting department; however, we also produce a significant amount of electrical diagrams and chemical schematics, especially in the field of recombinant DNA and bio-technology. We can efficiently produce DNA sequences from rough original copies as well as reformatting electronic files of sequences, or other electronic files supplied to us on disk.

Trademark Drawings

With our drafting department’s background knowledge of calligraphy and typography, we can faithfully reproduce the most subtle of character designs from the poorest original copies, as well as intricate high-detail logos and trademarks.
